Dr. Dan Mones was born in Maryland and raised on the Eastern Shore. He attended Haverford College outside of Philadelphia and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Working for a veterinarian in Ardmore led him to earn his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania, and was living in Philadelphia for 5 years before moving to New York. After a short period in Manhattan, where he had the opportunity to contribute to a book-in-progress discussing senior pet care and was interviewed by a number of different independent journalists with questions largely focusing on exotic animal health, the mountains beckoned him out West.

Dr. Mones bought Alpine Hospital for Animals in the Spring of 2012 and is proud to be a part of this amazing community. He is very happy to be able to bring minimally invasive surgical procedures to Alpine Hospital for Animals, and is always seeking ways to advance the care provided at Alpine. His other interests include radiology, reptile and small mammal medicine and surgery, dentistry and of course a love of cats and dogs is what led him into this profession early on. Outside of the office he does as much outdoors as he can, including SCUBA diving, biking, skiing, hiking and gardening.

He lives in Boulder with his wife, Amanda, and their two kids, Asher and Yara. Their home is made complete by their dog Corduroy, their cats Sticky and Hidey, and their bunnies Gibby and Cowabunga.
